    photometric light

I want to use a photometric light with an ies file.  My ies file has a very asymmetric beam coming from it which needs to be aimed a particular direction.  If I use a point light with the photometric option is there any way to aim the light (ie rotate the point light) or should I be using another light type?  Are there any other settings I should be using to create a more physically accurate rendering of the lights effect on a wall or facade for example?

I currently use AGI32 to create these kind of renderings, but would like to be able to use Brazil because of it's expanded toolset and integration into Rhino.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Sorry about the delay

If you want to target a light, switch on the focus feature.  Then you can enable control points on the light and set the target.  If you don't want the focus after that, just turn it back off.

    Re: photometric light

Thanks Andy.  I also found that if I choose an area type light and use then enable the target checkbox under the light type settings that I can rotate and position the light as needed.  I was able to get comparable renderings to what I get in AGI32 with some adjustments to intensity.  It looks very promising!  Is there any technical detail on how Brazil is sampling the ies file to deteremine the light falloff?  Specifically, I would like to know how coarsely it is sampling the angles given in the file to know how much detail I can expect in the final pattern to be realistic.  (by detail i mean if there are streaks or striations in the beam that is captured by the ies file with dense sampling, will Brazil pick those up as well).
